I agree with everything that the previous reviewers have said: These are a fine pair of binoculars for the money. I don t have any "posh" brands to compare them with but these give me a far better image than any Bins I ve used before either with or without glasses. The service from Microglobe was also excellent - I ll use them again.
My only minor criticism is that the strap and case which come with the bins are particularly cheap looking. I guess I should be glad that the money is spent on the optics rather than the accessories but would rather that the binoculars came without either.
Very quick delivery from Microglobe thank you. I bought these binoculars primarily to watch birds in our garden. They perform this function admirably and seem to be good quality for a budget price and are easy to focus. I am a spectacle wearer and don t have any problem with them. I am not an experienced binocular user so don t know how they compare with other makes. Don t take too much heed of the name Barr Stroud as they are really nothing to do with the original British company that made optical instruments for the military in the two world wars. They are made in China and are just badged Barr Stroud. They are compact but surprisingly heavy. I have already replaced the supplied strap of low quality with a third party more substantial and comfortable strap. The case is cheaply made and my example is badly sewn. However as it will rarely be used it doesn t bother me. So I would recommend these binoculars for casual users such as me but be prepared to replace the neck strap.

Following a good deal of research I decided that the Barr Stroud Sierra 8x42 Binoculars were the equipment best suited to my needs at the right price. Having read some negative remarks about Microglobe although there were many positive too I was slightly apprehensive about ordering the item from them this was unfounded as the retail experience was a breeze. I initially telephoned the company for advice which was readily given whilst also informative and knowledgeable but also to get a feel for the company. I placed the order on the afternoon of the Monday after Christmas and received it on the Wednesday which I consider remarkable service. The product was as described and in perfect condition. In conclusion the Barr Stroud Sierra 8x42 Binoculars are a quality piece of kit at a terrific price within the budget range there are plenty of good reviews on the Internet but Microglobe are the stars of the show here with their immaculate customer service.
Although the initial binoculars ordered were out of stock countrywide and would not be available in the time frame required I was very pleased with the options provided and chose The Barr Stroud 8 x 42 Sierra as an alternative. They were delivered the following day. The alternative choice proved to be very good.
All in all I was delighted by both the service the product and the price.
first pair of binoculars but i do do photography so i know that these are lovely and sharp everything is easy to use and they re light enough too. Wide enough to scan the area and a lot easier than looking through a camera lens. Highly recommended.
