Canon EF 100-400mm F4.5-5.6L
Lens is the first EF lens with a zoom range from 100mm to
400mm. It presents high resolution, excellent
contrast, neutral colour balance, and Canon's original built-in
Image Stabilizer function.
High zoom enlargement is achieved by means of a 6-group configuration with 5
movable groups.
Fluorite and Super UD Glass used
totally eliminate secondary spectrum for superb colour rendition. Autofocusing
is fast and silent with
Canon's
ring
USM, and AF speed is further
enhanced through an advanced, lightweight rear focusing design that incorporates
a floating element for consistent image quality at all focusing distances from
5.9' to infinity. It is also equipped with a dual-mode
Image Stabilizer suitable for
panning as well as stationary subjects. With full-time manual focus, one-touch
zooming with a wide grip, and a special ring that permits adjustment of zooming
friction, and that's extremely easy to use, and ideal for a wide variety of
applications including nature, wildlife, sports, and documentary photography.
IS Mode-1 works for normal
shooting and IS Mode-2 is suitable for panning shots of a
moving subject,
stabilizing images in viewfinder. The optical system
uses one artificial crystal Fluorite and one Super UD (Ultra-low Dispersion)
glass lens elements (3rd & 7th), which thoroughly correct chromatic aberration.
The minimum focusing distance of 1.8m is achieved throughout zooming range. The
Floating System in rear focusing
system is employed for the first time for EF zoom lens to achieve a high
definition for the entire focusing range. A ring
USM (Ultrasonic Motor) drives
high-speed and silent AF and full-time manual focusing. Linear zooming design
with zooming friction adjustment ring gives a good operability of this lens.
Extenders EF1.4X and EF2X are compatible with this lens.

L-series super telephoto zoom lens equipped with
an Image Stabilizer. The
Fluorite and Super UD-Glass
elements largely eliminate secondary spectrum. The floating system also ensures
high picture quality at all focal lengths. The
Image Stabilizer has
two modes and it is compatible with Extenders 1.4x and 2x.
