OVERVIEW

Canon 2x EF Extender III is designed for select Canon EF mount L-series telephoto lenses. It increases the focal length of a lens by a factor of 2x while still delivering superb image quality. To ensure the best possible image quality in all shooting conditions, it combines redesigned optics, improved data communication between lens and camera and enhanced environmental protection. It is ideal for photojournalists and wildlife, nature and sports photographers who need to get close to distant and challenging subjects and it reduces the need to carry heavy telephoto lenses. The Extender EF 2x III features nine optical elements in five groups, ensuring improved optical performance. All optical elements have Canon's Super Spectra coating to reduce ghosting and flare. A Fluorine Coating on the front and rear elements makes marks, such as spots left by water or fingerprints, much easier to clean than standard coatings. These extenders enable AF accuracy even when capturing moving subjects. When attached, the 2x extender reduces the effective maximum aperture by 2 stops. The extenders offer the exceptional build-quality expected from Canon's professional products, and are resistant to both dust and water that allow photographers to use them in extreme shooting conditions.

PROS: As an amateur photographer I would say that is an excellent addition to my equipment. It's great for birds and wild photography at the National Wildlife Center. A must have if you like to take photos of moving object which don't always want to come close to you.

CONS: The quality of the pictures is slightly decreased, but the autofocus is 4 times slower and you'll probably notice it (the difference is significant).

Dear Sir, unfortunately I have returned the lens for a refund. This was nothing to do with the quality of the product but it just made my set up to heavy to hand hold without me shaking to much!! I have been unwell for some time and I had hoped I would have enough strength to hand hold my set up but unfortunately I am not able to. If at some point I buy a tripod then I will re purchase the extender as it will be extremely useful for my growing interest in wildlife photography. Sorry I could not write a proper review at this time. I would appreciate it if you could confirm that you've received the lens back for refund. Thank you
