Canon's new Speedlite 600EX is engineered to provide a new level of performance and reliability for professional flash photography with today's most advanced DSLRs. With wireless two-way radio communication, the Speedlite 600 EX allows photographers to expand their creativity using wireless speedlites with the reliability of radio triggering. The 600EX features a new wireless multiple flash system using radio wave communication that provides more accurate control over as many as five groups of flashes. There's also more power, with a guide number of 197' (60 m) at ISO 100, a zoom flash head that covers a 20-200mm range. Compatible with the AF frame of all EOS cameras, the Speedlite 600EX even works perfectly with the 61-Point High Density Reticular AF found in the EOS-1D X and the EOS 5D Mark III.

The 600EX offers radio controlled two-way wireless transmission up to 98.4 feet, among up to 5 groups with a total of 15 individual speedlites. Communicating on 2.4 GHz frequencies, it doesn't have the same directional limitations of traditional wireless optical transmitters. Where other wireless signals can be interrupted by physical obstacles, radio controlled systems excel. 15 transmission channels are available, selectable manually or automatically, and radio transmission IDs can be set to prevent misfiring in the event of signal interference on the same channel.

With a guide number of 60 (ISO 100, m), the Speedlite 600EX is powerful enough to light up large areas, even when light is bounced off walls and ceilings. Four AA batteries provide silent recycling in as little as 0.1 sec. Use a large number of Speedlite 600EX units together for dramatic multi-flash photography – perfect when shooting large objects, interiors or portraits. Flashguns may be placed in one of three groups, which can be controlled individually or all together. Whether you use the Speedlite 600EX on camera or remotely, Canon’s E-TTL II flash metering will ensure accurate exposures every time. The Speedlite 600EX enjoys the same degree of weatherproof sealing as Canon’s EOS-1D X professional DSLR, and a large illuminated dot matrix LCD display that provides quick and easy operation.

The Speedlite 600EX offers an expanded zoom range and a higher guide number, plus a number of improvements in both operation and feel. It features a new dot-matrix LCD panel for display of all pertinent shooting information, backlit controls plus an internal sound generator. Reliability is ensured with improved hot shoe contacts, improved flash head durability and the most comprehensive dust and water sealing system ever on a Canon Speedlite flash. A new colour filter holder helps maintain accurate colour in a variety of ambient light conditions.
