The EQ refers to the equatorial mount which is something that you are going to want if you want to use this telescope for looking at the Moon and other Planets. When the OTA is pointed at the zenith, the users head is helped to be placed in a much comfortable positing by the usage of its diagonal positioning. The optical tube and the mount is also firmly supported by the stainless steel (adjustable height) tripod. It also comes with a tripod tray to support your accessories and hold your tripod in place while reducing shakes.
