Celestron Polar Axis Finderscope is a lightweight and portable scope that has an easy to use crosshair reticle and is intended for use with the CG-5 mounts. This useful accessory speeds accurate polar alignment by providing a means of visually aligning your German equatorial mount with Polaris and true north. After you get that set up you can expect pretty good results from longer exposures. It can be attach and detach easily without any difficulty.

  • Has an easy to use crosshair reticle and is intended for use with the CG-5 mounts
  • Excellent for quick and accurate polar alignment
  • Eyepiece has focus adjustments for reticle clarity
  • Can be used with Celestron CGEM or advanced VX equatorial mount
  • Non-illuminated design does not require power (battery) for operations
  • Install the finder into the polar finder port, located at the rear of the mount, and focus the eyepiece until the reticle is sharp
  • Easily identifiable star patterns of the Big Dipper, Cassiopeia & Octans are etched into the reticle, as well as Polaris & the North Celestial Pole, to help with alignment in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere

Arrived promptly and more cheaply than I could find elsewhere. The polar scope works well in my Advanced VX mount and does improve tracking even though the handset is meant to compensate for the mount not being precisely aligned.
