Description - Nikon 12x42 Monarch 5 Binocular (Black): New addition to the Monarch family, the Nikon 12x42 is constructed from fibreglass infused polycarbonate housing that is durable and robust in construct. The body is rubber armoured for shock resistance and a firm, comfortable grip. The binocular incorporated with extra-low dispersion (ED) lens elements that transmit vivid bright images and greater contrast. Phase corrected roof prism are employed for high image quality and slim design. Special dielectric coatings are used in the binocular to align incoming wave lengths of light and offers life like colours. The binocular offers 5 degree angle of view and offers a nine feet closer focus of the object. High eye relief permits a complete view of the field even with eye glasses. The larger objective lens makes the images brighter and contrast. Twist-up rubber eyecups with multiple click-stop positions offer better positioning of the viewer’s eyes. The binocular is nitrogen filled that prevents the internal fogging of the lens surfaces and water proof design permits the use of the binocular in any weather condition.

I bought these binoculars to replace a much cheaper pair that I had dropped and which became unusable. However I do not regret paying what I have for these Nikon binoculars. They are superbly clear and bright and as the saying goes you get what you pay for which by the way was quite a bit less than the price elsewhere.
They feel great to hold and focus sing is also easy. The only let down which I have also read elsewhere is that the eye lens cover does not fit very securely. However I did read a work round about the way they are secured to the neck strap which would hold them a bit more securely.
Overall though I am delighted with the binoculars which are as described by Microglobe.
