New Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 85mm F3.5G ED VR is a DX-format,
medium-telephoto micro lens with built-in Vibration Reduction (VR
II) and Silent Wave Motor (SWM). With a focal length of 85mm, this
compact and lightweight lens is recommended for users of Nikon DX-format
digital SLRs. The 85mm focal length (equivalent to 128mm on full frame) also
gives a pleasing perspective for portraits. The optical design uses 14
elements in 10 groups with one ED element, and the internal
focus design means the front element does not rotate on focusing, enabling the
use of lens-mounted macro lights.
Perfect for those fresh to
macro shooting, the AF-S DX MICRO NIKKOR 85MM F/3.5G VR have a 1:1
reproduction ratio, allowing photographers to get realistic close-ups of more
complicated textures and details, even down to the fine texture on flower petals
or insect wings. On top of this, the VR II system presents both a stable
viewfinder image for composition and sharper results at slow shutter speeds or
when shooting movie clips. Built-in SWM (Silent Wave Motor) enables calm
AF operation, particularly efficient for the macro shooting of easily
disturbed subjects such as insects and small animals. Internal Focusing
(IF) system means the lens barrel length does not change during focusing, which
make sure worry-free macro shooting while maintaining a constant working
distance.
