Customer Reviews on Pentax 8x25 Porro Prism UCF WP Binocular
Review by Adrian Taylor, 13/03/2010, Customer Rating:

The Pentax 8x25 UCF WP binocular is for daytime use where the eye's pupillary opening is not larger than 3mm. As daylight fades the pupil widens, but there will be no more power from the glasses. The image field usually appears to darken when compared to the same view from a naked eye. Image quality was quite good (although hyped as to its flatness) and it stood 8x magnification. While adjustments all worked well, they felt critical, making viewing stressful by contrast to an easy full-sized instrument with a larger exit pupil. One problem this lightweight (370g) binocular suffers from is hand tremor, which prevents potential image quality being attained. Fortunately it has a standard bush for tripod mounting that may be rigged up with a small L-adaptor turned sideways. I did not test Pentax's claim to waterproofing.
