Tamron 18-200 mm XR LD Asp zoom lens is introduced in the market by the Tamron Corporation on 20th February, 2005. This new powerful zoom lens is manufactured exclusively for Sony and Minolta cameras. Tamron 18-200mm Aspherical DI II lens has greater zooming capabilities, which is equivalent to 28-300mm in terms of 35mm cameras, because of this quality there is no need to change the lenses seldomly. It becomes very popular among the photographers around the world, because of its high power zooming quality. Tamron 18-200mm XR AF Sony-fit zoom lens belongs to Di-II_(Digitally_Integrated_Design) category. The Di-II category lenses of Tamron are ideal focal length lenses which features high quality optical system optimized especially for digital SLR Cameras. The new Extra Refractive Index-(XR) glass technology used, reduces the size of the lens and also minimizes the aberrations a great deal. The short barrel optics used in Tamron 18 200 mm LD aspheric zoom lens making it possible to obtain same aperture values as previous long barrel lenses.
By using this principle, Tamron corporation is able to produce more compact and light weight lenses with greater aperture values. All air to glass surfaces are coated with special multi-layer coatings called Internal Surface Coatings. These multiple layer coatings reduces the reflection of light to 0.5%, thus produces images free of ghosting and flare. The new 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di-II XR AF Asp lenses features enhanced minimum focusing distance of 1.5-feet (45cm) and maximum_magnification_ratio of 1:3.7 throughout the entire zoom range.
In addition to these features, three hybrid aspheric lens elements are used in combination with two low dispersion-LD glass elements which effectively finishes the on-axis chromatic aberrations. As a result, the high quality images with greater resolution, contrast and brightness are produced. Tamron AF 18-200mm Di-II lens also features internal focusing system and zoom locking mechanism; Because of this IF-Internal Focusing Mechanism, there is no need to rotate or shift the front lens element for focusing subjects. The zoom locking mechanism of the Tamron F3.5-6.3 Asp zoom lens prevents unwished barrel extension while carrying the lens. The greater angle of view ensures edge-to-edge classical resulting images. This lens is constructed with 15 elements in 13 groups.
