I already have some ridiculously expensive zeiss green rubber roof prism binos inherited some years ago and had been looking for some (much) more affordable ones for a friend who has set up a garden bird feeder and has lots of finches visiting. I saw some bresser 7x50's in the local charity shop for a tenner and grabbed them. I actually preferred them to the zeiss ones so decided to look for some beefy porro prisms for myself. The fact that I have rather close together eyes for an adult meant that the Nikons were ideal. The minimum inter pupillary distance on some other binoculars was a little large for comfort. These 12x50 waterproof jobs are great. Not too big for hand holding despite my fears and a crisp,bright image. They are made in China (confirmed by email from Nikon) but then my Nikkor 18-200 vr zoom is made in Thailand and is my indespesable and favourite camera lens.
