Pentax 3.8-5.9mm f/3.7-4 Zoom Lens for Q Mount Cameras: Compact and ultra light weight lens that offers wide angle zoom for the Q-series cameras. The lens offers 35mm focal length that is equivalent to 17.5-27mm, when mounted on Q7 mirror less camera. When mounted on Q or Q10 cameras its focal length of 35mm is equivalent to 21-32.5mm. The lens is constructed from dual super aspherical element and two extra low dispersion elements that offer better control over chromatic aberration and provide sharp and high resolution images with edge to edge sharpness. For optimal results and protection from oil, water and dust; super protect (SP) coating is applied on the front lens. Quite and fast auto focus mechanism is provided with the help of high precision internal stepper motor and quick shift focus system provides instant switch over from auto focus to manual focus mode. The internal focus mechanism with a stepping motor offers low-noise auto focus operation for smooth and discreet shooting. The lens features a built-in lens shutter with an iris diaphragm and Neutral Density filter.

I purchased this lens as a compact alternative to the Panasonic wide angle for Micro Four Thirds. This Pentax lens is about half the size of the aforementioned Panasonic which makes it much more fun to use in my opinion. Whilst it doesn t offer such an extreme wide angle perspective as the Panasonic 17.5mm vs 14mm I m much more inclined to take it with me due to the smaller size.

Like the other lenses in the Q system the compact design and high quality finish entice me to pick it up and take pictures! The images captured by the lens are very sharp with rich natural colours.

Microglobe s service was excellent - the item arrived in under 24 hours with the lowest price from a UK dealer.

This lens is everything I expected. Built to the same standard as the other Q mount lenses it extends the range into the wide angle area giving 21mm equivalent on the original Q camera and even wider on the Q7. Sharpness is good.
