The Sigma 24mm F1.8 EX DG Aspherical Macro is a standard wide-angle lens for full-frame and APS-C digital SLRs. Although not a new lens, it remains popular for its combination of good build quality, a usefully fast aperture of F1.8 and decent optics. You don't get Sigma's HSM ultrasonic-type autofocus motor but a clever manual/auto focus clutch gives quick access to manual focus if you need to fine-tune.
It has a fast F1.8 maximum aperture with macro focusing capability of minimum focusing down to 18cm/7.1inches (reproduction ratio 1:2.7).
It incorporates the floating focus system and uses two aspherical lens elements for minimizing distortion and spherical aberration and astigmatism. The internal focusing system eliminates front lens rotation, thus allowing the use of a Perfect Hood and the easy use of polarizing filters.
Its Autofocus lens incorporates non-vignetting optical construction, in order to obtain adequate peripheral brightness even at open aperture. It uses lead and arsenic free ecological glass.
