Customer Reviews on Tamron AF 180mm LD-IF/Di F3.5 Macro Lens for Nikon Cameras£429.00
The Tamron AF 180mm macro is above all a great lens. Good (excelent?) image quality, nice construction and a usefull tripod foot.
On the downside a plastic feel, slow focus but accurate, and no focus limiter. But don't be overlooked by these cons because this telephoto macro lens is easy to use both in the field and in the studio, providing great image quality at all distances, plus a longer working distance. It has a special LD glass and internal focusing (IF), it has a moving filter ring for adjusting polarizing filters (that drives me nuts some times) and an AF/MF ring for easier switching from manual to auto-focus.
I must say it's the only non Nikkor lens in my gear!
Stunningly sharp lens, actually clearly sharper than the industry standard AF Micro-Nikkor 200mm. The tripod collar looks bit flimsy but works very well and smoothly. The autofocus is not fast but you would not want to use it anyway with close-up work. The lens hood is excellent, has really maximum depth and will improve contrast in certain situations.
