Designed in the USA for use on real firearms, VORTEX optics are built for use on real firearms, and as such, they are capable of tolerating intense recoil. This makes them more than tough enough to handle the rigors of an Airsoft skirmish, even if you treat your gear like it was issued to you!
The build quality of this sight is fantastic, using high-quality machined aluminium for the outer shell and high clarity recoil resistant glass, you will struggle to break the UH-1 Gen.II, but just in case you do, VORTEX provides a lifetime unconditional warranty covering any damage which affects the performance of the sight. Obviously, this does not cover intentional damage, so no excuses for throwing your high end optic at the wall!
The lenses used in the UH-1 Gen.II feature absolute zero image distortion, meaning what you see with your eye is what you will see through the optic, with no darkened or tinted view like many other Holographic sights. The objective lens is multi-coated to reduce glare and ensure the sight is still usable in bright conditions whilst minimising the chances the sun will catch your lens and give your position away.
The wide 35mm objective lens size allows a wide field of view and effectively facilitates rapid and instinctive target acquisition. The lenses also feature VORTEX's own FHQ technology, minimising stray light transmission and preventing the light from the illumination function from being visible at the dangerous end of the sight. Part of the lens coating treatment is ArmorTek ultra-hard scratch-resistant, oil-resistant and dirt-resistant coating, ensuring your lens is difficult to scratch and resists dirt well, giving you a clear sight picture when you need it. The design of the sight itself is very conducive to high strength, with the delicate precise lenses protected by a CNC machined aluminium hood, and the sensitive electronics all stored within the sights mount base, affording them maximum protection.
The UH-1 is also waterproof, and fog proof, thanks to its internal filling of Argon gas, eliminating air pockets within the scope and ensuring that you won't get any fogging in wet conditions and that anything inside the unit itself stays nice and dry. The integrated Picatinny mount is of the QD variety, meaning you don't need tools to attach or remove the sight from your rail system, and provided the sight goes back in the same exact place, it will retain its zero.
The QD mount also features a lock button, ensuring you won't accidentally QD your sight onto the floor. Tools can be used to fine-tune the fit in the case of heavily recoiling firearms, and can also be useful when installing this sight on slightly out of spec. rails. In order to adjust the sight, there are two dials found on the right side of the optic which can be set using a flathead screwdriver, a coin or the rim of a cartridge case.
The sights controls can be found on the rear, with a "-" and "+" button, allowing scrolling through the 15 visible brightness settings, and another button, "NV" which we will discuss shortly. The wide range of brightness settings is one of the many high-end features which set this sight apart from the rest. On its highest setting, the EBR-CQB reticle is still visible in intense sunlight or under visual assault from the opponent's tactical flashlights, and on its lowest setting, it can be used in the pitch dark without the reticle washing out the image. With another 13 options in between, you are guaranteed the maximum optical clarity and effectiveness from this optic no matter the lighting conditions.
On to the major step up taken by VORTEX in this latest generation of UH-1 Holographic sight. The "NV" mode. This button enables the UH-1 Gen.II's night vision mode, switching the illumination of the reticle to Infrared and allowing the optic to be viewed through night vision devices, whilst being invisible to the naked eye. This is a unique feature for an optic within this price range and is particularly useful for tactical shooters and Milsim skirmishers, who love using NVGs that cost as much as a small car. The NV mode provides 8 levels of brightness to choose from which can be selected using the "+" and "-" keys on the rear of the sight. A thoughtful perk, when you switch the sight between visible and NV modes, the sight will remember your most recent brightness setting and default to that.
Included in the box is a CR123a battery, which runs the entire sight including the NV mode. The sight features an auto shut off function, which will activate after 14 hours but can be disabled using the sights brightness adjustment keys. The EBR-CQB reticle is a multi-function reticle similar to that of another famous Holographic sight. The centre dot is 1 MOA, for precise shots, the triangle at the bottom of the reticle, known as the CQB triangle indicates the point of impact for precise shots at 10m or less, and the outer circle, sized at 65 MOA is for fast target acquisition and ranging. This type of reticle is held in high regard because of its versatility, accuracy and clean field of view, allowing optimal target engagement in a wide range of scenarios.
When you rely on a tactical optic to keep you in the game, you’ve got to be ready to shine, day or night. The AMG UH-1 Gen II is the close-quarters solution you’ve been asking for, offering an incredibly fast holographic display to conquer every close-quarters situation, now with four night-vision compatible settings and a dedicated night-vision button.
A large viewing window makes this door-kicker even faster, and a sleek, snag-free build looks and maneuvers great. The lightning-quick EBR-CQB reticle is designed to dominate in close, and our FHQ technology virtually eliminates stray light emissions for stealth shooting.
