Customer Reviews on Barr & Stroud Roof Prism 10x42 Sierra Binocular£99.00
As an 80th birthday present this was an excellent choice. Having previously consulted the manufacturer I received helpful and economical advice from Microglobe. Delivery next day was welcome in time for the birthday.
Barr & Stroud Roof Prism 10x42 Sierra Binocular are excellent value for the price. A steady hand is needed when using them without support. For some with less steady hands the Barr & Stroud 8x42 Sierra Roof Prism Binocular may be better. Also I found Microglobe have a superb after sales service and will continue to buy from them with confidence!
After reading good reports about these bino's, I thought I'd try a pair (for bird watching etc) and was so impressed (by the quality, ease of use and Microglobe's excellent customer service/delivery) I bought another pair 2 days later!
Superb product supplied by a first class company!
I was after a decent pair of budget binoculars, for bird watching, so did some online research and I found the Barr & Stroud Sierra 10x42 to be the ones to go for. They had won awards for Best Budget Binoculars for the last couple of years. Microglobe were the cheapest retailer I could find, selling these Binoculars at £83. I ordered them on-line on a Thr morning and 24 hours later they were in my hands! So a brilliant delivery service they have using Royal Mail Special Delivery, all for £8.
The binoculars have not disappointed me. The Sierra's are compact but still pack a 10x magnification (zoom) and 42mm objective lense (collect in a lot of light). In a lot of binocular reviews I read (on-line) they mentioned, amongnst other things, to look out for is the weight of binoculars. Certainly, didn't expect this to be as important as it is, but you do notice the weight of them and by no means are these Barr & Strouds at the heavy end of the spectrum.
The prisims are not made from ED (Extra Low Dispersion) material but the cheapest pair I could find that did have this technology were about £160 and beyond my budget. But the Sierra's prisims are made from BaK4 and are multi-coated. So pretty good materials used and a very clear view through them.
Very happy. Good pair of binoculars, field of view is good and lots of light
Really good quality product and very quick delivery, I would certainly shop with Microglobe again.
